| SIN is an acronym for "STRENGTH IN NUMBERS."
In this instance, as it applies to the business of content creation: books, comics, films, music et al.
Do you have a dream project? But you don't have the money to implement it? You're just an individual with limited resources? You need connections. You need to collaborate with others to tap their expertise? Opportunities pass you by because you are not plugged into the network. NOBODY notices you. And it takes too much time to pitch your ideas. In fact, more time than it took to create your work! People may want your ideas but NOT YOU. A lot of sharks out there, waiting to gobble you up! If you aren't already famous, or rich or connected, you will never get your project off the ground! Doors will close. People will steal your ideas and you'll be left in the cold... wondering what the hell happened! We've all been there. And that's why we have created the S.I.N. INITIATIVE. We are looking for a team of creative individuals - writers, artists, bloggers, illustrators, filmmakers, make-up artists, actors, models, set designers, web designers, photographers, animators et al to join us on an exciting bold new venture! To FINALLY get your indie projects off the ground! Let's change the rules of the game! Are you in?
I'M INTERESTED. TELL ME MORE.
The SIN Initiative is primarily targeted at collaborative small independent projects/productions. The entertainment/creative industry has changed drastically over the last decade. The traditional business models don't apply. We need to adapt. Or atrophy and implode.
It's not all gloom and doom though. On the contrary, this is probably the best time to be a content creator, be it comics, books, magazines, movies, music or games. We have so many tools at our disposal. Tech has advanced. Equipment is affordable. And thanks to the internet we are now a global village/economy. We can collaborate with anyone from anywhere in the world! We enjoy a potential market reach of 7 billion people - if they have a smartphone, they have access to your product.
WILL I GET PAID TO PRODUCE MY WORK?
That is SIN's primary objective! SIN will complement crowdfunding. Patreon, Kickstarter, GoFundMe, Indiegogo et al. Unfortunately, most campaigns exist in a vacuum, or at best, an echo chamber. That invariably leads to failure. SIN enables the independent creator to tap into a creative ecosystem to produce quality work. Through collaborations and connections, you grow your network exponentially. Consider this, if each creator has a base of supporters/funders and we consolidate them under a "SINgle" banner, each creator would be able to pitch their campaign to the total collective! You will increase your odds at achieving a successfully funded campaign - a hundred fold! Or a thousand fold!
ONCE I'VE SUCCESSFULLY FUNDED MY PROJECT, WHAT THEN?
We want you to reach a wide an audience as possible and have unlimited sales potential. There are a variety of digital platforms you can select: comiXology (digital comics) Amazon Kindle Store (ebooks) Youtube/Vevo (short films) Itunes (music) App Store (games/apps). If you have a good finished product, you will receive potential additional revenue from sales and/or through advertisements. But what you really want is high visibility. If your work gets noticed by the "Big Boys" that could lead to selling your content/producing work for them.
SO HOW DO I JOIN?
to be added to our family of creators and instantly tap into the SIN network.
When you apply to be a member of SIN, you'll need to provide your c.v. and if applicable, your personal project plans. SIN will put you in touch with fellow creators who may want to collaborate with you. Once you establish a work team, you'll then estimate the cost of funding your project. The allocation of funds will have to be determined before the crowdfunding stage. A simple example: if an artist and writer decided to collaborate on a comicbook together, they'd each decide how much they wanted to be paid for their work on the book (e.g. $100 a page for art and $20 a page for scripting) and then factor in the cost of printing and incidentals. When you have established the total cost of the project, you'll approach SIN to help put together the crowdfunding campaign. This will enable you to tap into the entire SIN base of supporters/potential funders. That is why SIN is essential. If not for SIN, the 2 individual comicbook creators will be operating in a vacuum with limited reach and resources. Remember, there is always STRENGTH IN NUMBERS (SIN).
So what are you waiting for? Join now!
